Hart Vision and Rachel Willis-Henry Awards

The Hart Vision Awards, established in 1995, are named in honor of Gary K. Hart, retired California State Senator and former California Secretary of Education. While serving as state senator, Hart sponsored the legislation that established California charter schools.

In honor of our CCSA staff member, Rachel Willis-Henry, who passed in late 2019, CCSA renamed the Volunteer of the Year award as the “Rachel Willis-Henry Volunteer of the Year award”. CCSA selected this particular award to be named after her as we wanted to pay tribute to the countless hours Rachel put into her work with public charter schools – first as a volunteer and then as part of CCSA’s staff – and the manner in which she lead our charter families, volunteers, and staff throughout her time with us.

The awards will recognize individuals who have made significant contributions to CCSA’s mission to support and advocate for high quality non-profit charter schools in California.

Goals of the awards:

The nomination deadline is 11:59 p.m. PST Friday, October 9, 2020.

A teacher or volunteer can be nominated by anyone from a California Charter Schools Association member school. A selection committee of teachers, school leaders and staff will be formed to select the winners based on specific criteria.
