Tom served in LAUSD’s Charter Schools Division for six years– coordinating and managing oversight of over 120 charter schools and developing authorization recommendations for new and renewing charter schools. Tom regularly engages with school leaders and participates in client board meetings, providing training on best practices in governance, fiscal policies, and procedures, and developing prudent response strategies to authorizer scrutiny and feedback.
Tom taught for seven years and has held multiple administrative positions in operations management related to school improvement initiatives; restructuring schools; co-locating charter schools on newly constructed district facilities; student discipline; and crisis management.

tbdYvette King-Berg has served as the Executive Director of Youth Policy Institute’s Charter Schools for eighteen years. Ms. King-Berg has over thirty-eight years of experience working with administrators, teachers, students, parents, and organizations in a variety of positions, including board membership, Director, Assistant Director, Curriculum Advisor, Bilingual and Title 1 Coordinator, classroom teacher (K-12) in Pasadena and LAUSD. Ms. King-Berg serves as the Board Chair for CharterSafe, Vice-Chair of Fenton Public Charter Schools, and is a CCSA Board Member.
