Charissa Kirk

California Department of Education
Charissa Kirk is an Education Programs Consultant at the California Department of Education (CDE). Charissa has served the state of California since 2010, working mainly in the Assessments Development and Administration Division. Prior to joining the English Language Proficiency and Spanish Assessments Office in 2023, she served as an Education Programs Consultant in the CDE’s Science Office, working on the development of the operational California Science Assessment and the California Alternate Assessment for Science. Before working for the state of California, she worked for over 15 years in corporate sales and marketing. Charissa earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration and marketing management from the California State University of Sacramento and a master’s degree in public administration from the University of North Dakota.

Melanie Anvari

California Department of Education
Melanie Anvari is an Education Programs Consultant in the English Language Proficiency and Spanish Assessments (ELPSA) Office at the California Department of Education. Prior to joining the ELPSA Office in early 2024, she has worked in various local educational agencies in both the Bay Area and Sacramento area over the past 18 years as a classroom teacher, school counselor, site assistant principal and district administrator. Melanie’s field experience is in secondary education, with an emphasis in the high school setting. She holds a Master’s degree from San José State University in School Counseling, as well as a single subject teaching credential, pupil personnel services credential, and an administrative services credential.

Traci Albee

Administrator

Traci Albee is an Education Research and Evaluation Administrator in the English Language Proficiency and Spanish Assessments (ELPSA) Office at the California Department of Education. Prior to joining the ELPSA Office in 2016, she worked in Stockton Unified and Elk Grove School Districts, serving as a State and Federal Program Administrator, Project Evaluator, and Assessment Analyst. Before moving to California in 2004, Traci worked for the University of Northern British Columbia as an Institutional Planning Analyst supporting the needs of the university through informed data-driven decision making. She holds a Master’s Degree from the University of Northern British Columbia in Curriculum and Instruction and elementary teaching credentials in the provinces of British Columbia and Alberta.
