Discipline 101: Deciphering Suspensions to Involuntary Removals
Join us for an insightful session to deepen your understanding of charter school student suspensions, expulsions, and involuntary removals. Attendees will learn strategies and best practices for avoiding costly mistakes and carrying out effective, legally compliant procedures. The workshop will cover the legal and practical differences and similarities between an expulsion and an involuntary removal and when and how each process applies. We will also discuss conducting investigations and lawful searches of students and methods to uphold and implement lawful charter school policies and procedures.

Drew Rymer’s primary practice areas include assisting charter schools on issues related to student services, including special education compliance, Section 504, and student discipline. Drew regularly assists clients with IEP team meetings, due process complaints filed with the Office of Administrative Hearings, and student expulsion hearings.
