A critical component of Discovery Schools is our Family Participation model. Come learn how we strive for 100% family involvement! When the entire community works together to support learning, children tend to perform better in school and develop stronger life skills. At Discovery, parents get to volunteer and be on campus! Our families actively contribute to the school community on a regular basis. We ensure that parents can volunteer in ways that reflect their skills, interests, and talents—while also considering their time and family commitments.

For thirty years, Leticia has dedicated herself to education, motivated by the significant impact educators on young lives. Drawing from her own experiences, she understands how transformative a school environment can be in shaping futures.
Leticia has cultivated a deep passion for hands-on, project-based learning. She champions inclusion and actively promotes parental engagement and participation, all of which enhance personalized student pathways and academic achievement. Her mission is to share her insights and expertise to elevate the remarkable efforts already in motion with students and families.
Currently, she is executive director at Discovery Charter Schools in San Jose.

Thuan is an experienced educator and active parent leader at Discovery Charter School, where she has been involved for over 12 years. Previously an elementary and preschool teacher, she has served on the Program Site Council for most of her time at DCS, including three years as co-president. Thuan views volunteering as a privilege. She “gets to” teach enrichments, plan events, and build strong connections within the school community. In the past two years, she returned to the classroom as a 6th and 7th grade teacher, continuing her commitment to education and contributing to a positive school environment.
