Reading to Learn: Strategies to Accelerate Secondary Literacy
Reading is foundational for success in school and life. Yet many secondary students with disabilities struggle to read fluently, and secondary teachers often find it challenging to teach reading effectively. This session explores how California charter leaders at the forefront of this pivotal work nationwide are applying skills and knowledge drawn from the science of reading to improve outcomes for nonproficient secondary readers. Practitioners will share tips and tools developed by the Networked Improvement Community for Students with Disabilities to plan, implement, and monitor the effectiveness of secondary reading interventions.
