Amy Parada passionately works for Rocketship Public Schools as the Associate Director of Community Organizing. She has orchestrated shows of power, such as the San José Mayoral Candidate Forum with over 1,000 people. Amy has ignited change by organizing hundreds of volunteer families and staff in cross-collaborative organizing across 13 schools. Amy found her passion for organizing 12 years ago through the movement to pass the Local Control Funding Formula with Governor Brown. Her passion stems from her own immigrant family, fueling her belief education is a passport for underserved families creating positive ripple effects across social issues.

Gilbert Borrayo

Lead Education Organizer
Rocketship Public Schools
Gilbert Borrayo is a Lead Education Organizer who began his journey during San José's small schools movement, as charter schools were emerging. His experience in community advocacy evolved into a skilled organizer. Gilbert successfully led two traffic safety campaigns, including a $100K crosswalk initiative championed by families for over a decade, emphasizing safety in underserved communities. He recruited over 120 parent leaders in less than a year, mobilizing more than 500 families during the charter school renewals. In addition, Gilbert coaches Stanford students to launch organizing campaigns using the Marshall Ganz model, further empowering future leaders in California.
