Experienced education leader with a demonstrated history of working in the primary/secondary education industry, especially in Special Education. Skilled in Nonprofit Organizations, Classroom Management, IEP, Volunteer Management, and Public Speaking. Strong community and social services professional with a Master of Arts (M.A.) focused in Transition Special Education from The George Washington University.Ms. Layson has been an exceptional middle and high school educator for over 15 years. Originally from a small town near Philadelphia, she earned her degree in German and Psychology from the University of Pittsburgh and a Master’s in Special Education from George Washington University. She taught in Washington, DC for 10 years in both public and charter schools, serving grades 4-8. As Director of High School Placement, she helped students secure scholarships and top high school admissions. Outside of teaching, she enjoys hiking, kayaking with her husband and corgi, Bill, and reading murder mysteries.
